About us
PEAR stands for Participatory, Education, Awareness and Resources. These four words are the guiding values of PEAR innovation. Started in 1997 by Reuben and Laura Lemunyete, PEAR has been an important partner in the improvement of the economic livelihoods of the pastoralists community that they are a part of.
Our Vision
To be a leading, trusted community development partner among communities with an improved quality of life.
Our mission
To facilitate development partnerships in community driven initiatives that will sustainably improve the socio-economic well-being of pastoralists and agro-pastoralists to achieve food security and education in a sustainable environment. We do this in three main ways:
Business creation
Over the last 20+ years PEAR has partnered with local women groups in various capacities. Our current partnership is with Ngurunit Basket Weavers Association.
Community education
From hiring teachers, building schools and sponsoring students, we aim to empower the community with education that will help it thrive.
Resources improvement
One of the main challenges of northern Kenya is lack of water. Through partnerships and donations we combat this problem in different ways.
